The Princess Royal officially opens historic Hull Trinity House Academy

Hull Trinity House Academy embarked on a new chapter in its history as The Princess Royal officially opened its state-of-the-art Beverley Road campus. The move to the new site, made possible by a substantial £20 million investment, marks a significant milestone for the school.

The opening ceremony was a grand affair, attended by civic dignitaries, school leaders, and representatives from Delta Academies Trust. Her Royal Highness was greeted with a warm welcome, including a guard of honour by the academy’s White Squad, a student parade, and a captivating performance by the Drum Corp.

During her visit, The Princess Royal toured the new state of the art facilities and met with students and staff. Principal Dan Flack expressed his delight at the successful opening day, stating, “It was an honor to welcome Her Royal Highness and hear her commend us as a ‘wonderful school with excellent facilities.’ She witnessed the remarkable progress we’ve made in recent years, extending beyond our relocation from Charlotte Street Mews.”

Dami Ojutaiye, from Year 8, was chosen to meet the Princess. “It was an honour to talk with her and represent our historic school,” she said.

Among dignitaries at the official opening were His Majesty the King’s representative The Lord Lieutenant of the East Riding of Yorkshire Jim Dick OBE; the Lord Mayor, Councillor Mark Collinson; and the High Sheriff of East Riding, Colonel Christopher Henson.

Other guests included the Chair of the Delta Academies Trust Board Steve Hodsman, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Andy Barnett and The Brethren of Hull Trinity House.
